Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
The Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and Alpha continue their collection of recordings of Mozart's operas conducted by Jérémie Rhorer. After an Enlèvement au Sérail which received excellent international reviews (FFFF Télérama...), here is La Clémence de Titus.
This is one of Mozart's most successful operas, whose reworked libretto is in line with the masterpieces of French classicism such as the plays Cinna by Corneille and Bérénice by Racine. In the first, he borrows the solitude of power, in the second the tears of love choices. During the performances at the Théâtre des Champs-Éllysées in December 2014, Denys Podalydès brought out Racine's Bérénice as a curtain raiser... proclaiming his resolution to leave Rome. The nobility and spiritual elevation of these farewells set the psychological and moral tone of the opera. They appealed to everyone to rise above themselves...
